Position Summary
The Montana Air National Guard (120 OSS) is seeking a qualified Airplane Pilot for a Title 32 Excepted Service position. The incumbent will pilot advanced, single or multi-engine military aircraft and high-performance fighter aircraft on tactical and non-tactical missions. This role requires precision instrument flight techniques, extensive knowledge of aircraft systems under all operational conditions, and the ability to serve as the Supervisor of Flying (SOF) to ensure safe and efficient mission accomplishment.
Key Responsibilities

Execute flight mission planning, including weather analysis, route charting, fuel requirement calculations, and flight plan filing.

Conduct pre-flight inspections, manage weight and balance, and provide necessary safety briefings to crew and passengers.

Adhere strictly to flight manual parameters, coordinate with ground control, and monitor aircraft performance during flight.

Perform post-flight documentation, including aircraft logs, flight reports, and maintenance coordination.

Rotate through administrative program support functional areas, including Training and Scheduling, Plans, Safety, and the Inspector General office.

Develop comprehensive training plans, maintain wartime/peacetime contingency plans, and administer flying safety programs in compliance with AF, ANG, and OSHA directives.
Requirements and Conditions of Employment

Military Membership:
Must be a member of the Montana Air National Guard or eligible for immediate membership prior to the effective date of placement.

Military Grade:
O4/Maj - O5/Lt Col.

Uniform Requirement:
Selectee is required to wear the military uniform.

Security Clearance:
Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance for access to classified information.

Training Qualification:
Graduation from USAF or USN Undergraduate Flying Training (UFT) is required. Must be AFSC qualified in 11M3C or able to qualify within 6 months of hire.

Medical Standards:
Must maintain medical standards equivalent to USAF military pilots.

Selective Service:
Males born after December 31, 1959, must be registered for Selective Service.

Availability:
Must be available for work outside normal duty hours (evenings, weekends, holidays) and be prepared for travel via military or commercial air.
Qualifications

Education:
Undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university (transcripts required).

Certifications:
Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) certifications from an accredited civilian program OR aviation certifications from an accredited military aviation school are required.

Specialized Experience:
Minimum of two years of experience in civilian or military aviation programs. Candidates must demonstrate proficiency in piloting and instructing others in specific airframes, mission planning, safety program management, and operational risk management.
