Airplane Pilot (Accelerated Hire) - GS-2181-13
The Air National Guard (ANG) Aviation Wing, Operations Group, currently seeks qualified candidates for the position of Airplane Pilot (Accelerated Hire) at the 144th Fighter Wing (CA 144 FW). This position involves piloting unit-equipped (UE) aircraft while providing administrative support for the Air Operations program.
Position Overview
This is a T32 Excepted Service position, which may be filled on a permanent, indefinite, or temporary basis. Indefinite or temporary appointees may be eligible for non-competitive conversion or extension subject to funding and regulatory guidance.
Duties and Responsibilities

Operate unit-equipped (UE) military aircraft.

Perform administrative tasks to support Air Operations.

Conduct mission planning, preparation, and analysis of mission tasking, intelligence, and weather data.

File flight plans and lead crew briefings.

Execute preflight inspections, aircraft loading, and equipment assessments.

Perform or supervise navigation, in-flight refueling, search and rescue, and reconnaissance operations.

Supervise and train crew members on mission-specific tasks.

Advise commanders and develop policies for flight operations, safety, and mission tactics.
Eligibility and Conditions of Employment

Membership:
Applicants must be or become members of the California National Guard.

Military Compatibility:
Selectees must maintain a compatible military unit, grade (O-1 through O-6), and job assignment.

Uniform:
The wearing of the military uniform and adherence to grooming standards are mandatory.

Clearance:
Maintenance of the appropriate level of security clearance is required.

Direct Deposit:
Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.

Selective Service:
Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must be registered with the Selective Service.
Qualifications
General Experience:
Candidates must possess a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) certification from an accredited civilian aviation program or an aviation certification from an accredited military aviation school, plus one year of on-the-job experience in the grade or comparable military rank immediately below the next higher level.
Specialized Experience (GS-2181-13):
Must have at least 36 months of specialized experience in the following:

Operating specific main-frame military aircraft.

Mission planning, preparation, and tasking analysis.

Conducting preflight inspections and aircraft equipment assessments.

Navigation, refueling, and search and rescue operations.
-
Training crew members in complex mission tasks.

Knowledge of flight theory, meteorology, and flying directives.

Managing unit flying, explosive, and ground safety programs in accordance with DoD, NGB, and OSHA policies.
Education and Certification Requirements
Candidates must provide proof of FAA certification or military aviation school certification. Transcripts and/or certificates must be submitted at the time of application. Foreign education must be evaluated by a recognized private organization to determine U.S. equivalency.
