Position Summary
The incumbent serves as an Airplane Pilot for high-performance military fighter aircraft. Responsibilities include executing tactical and non-tactical missions, utilizing advanced precision instrument flight techniques, and maintaining operational readiness. The pilot operates within established flight parameters, manages complex aircraft systems, and ensures the safety and efficiency of all assigned missions. This role includes performing as a Supervisor of Flying (SOF) and participating in administrative rotations covering Training and Scheduling, Plans, Safety, and Inspector General functions.
Key Responsibilities

Operates advanced, single or multi-engine high-performance military aircraft in all weather conditions.

Conducts comprehensive pre-flight planning, including weather analysis, route charting, fuel requirement calculations, and flight plan filing.

Performs prescribed pre-flight checks, verifies aircraft loading and weight distribution, and ensures crew and passenger safety briefings.

Maintains rigorous communication with ground control and monitoring systems during flight operations.

Completes post-flight documentation, including aircraft logs, flight reports, and coordination with maintenance personnel.

Provides expert guidance on program support, including unit training plans, wartime/peacetime contingency planning, safety program administration, and Inspector General compliance.
Requirements and Qualifications

Citizenship/Membership:
Must be a member of the Montana Air National Guard. Must maintain military membership as a condition of employment.

Education:
Must possess an undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university (transcripts required).

Certification:
Must possess Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) certifications from an accredited civilian aviation program or aviation certifications from an accredited military aviation school.

Training:
Graduation from USAF or USN Undergraduate Flying Training (UFT) is required.

Professional Standing:
Must be AFSC qualified in 11M3C or able to qualify within 6 months of hire. Must maintain medical standards equivalent to USAF military pilots.

Specialized Experience:
Minimum of two years of experience in civilian or military aviation programs. Candidates must demonstrate proficiency in piloting and instructing on specific aircraft, mission planning, emergency procedures, and operational safety programs.

Clearance:
Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance.

Compliance:
Must be registered with the Selective Service (if applicable) and eligible for federal employment suitability.
