Airplane Pilot (C-130) – Wyoming Air National Guard

The Wyoming Air National Guard is seeking a qualified Airplane Pilot for the 153d Operations Support Squadron. This is a Title 32 Dual Status Technician Excepted Service position (Position #1160416). The selected individual will be responsible for piloting C-130 aircraft and providing administrative support for the Air Operations program.

Core Duties and Responsibilities

  • Pilot advanced multi-engine military aircraft on tactical and non-tactical missions using precision instrument flight techniques and navigational aids.
  • Conduct comprehensive flight planning, including weather analysis, route mapping, fuel requirement calculations, and flight plan filing.
  • Execute pre-flight checks, including weight and balance verification, maintenance inspections, and crew briefings.
  • Operate aircraft in accordance with flight manuals, coordinate with ground control, monitor performance, and execute emergency procedures as required.
  • Complete post-flight requirements, including maintenance logs, flight reports, and coordination with support personnel.
  • Serve as the Air Commander’s representative when performing duties as Supervisor of Flying (SOF).

Mandatory Qualifications

  • Education: Undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Training: Graduation from USAF or USN Undergraduate Flying Training (UFT).
  • Experience: Minimum 24 months of experience in military or civilian aviation, including at least 24 months of piloting or instructing in C-130 aircraft. This experience must demonstrate proficiency in operations planning, mission safety, crew leadership, and compliance with military directives.
  • Certifications: Possession of Federal Aviation Administration pilot certificates or appropriate military certifications/ratings in the C-130H.
  • Military Requirement: Must possess AFSC 11M, C-130 Mobility Pilot. Must be in, or capable of obtaining, the military grade of O-2/1Lt to O-5/Lt Col.
  • Medical: Must maintain current medical standards required for USAF military pilots.
  • Licensure: Valid driver's license required.

Conditions of Employment

  • Must become a military member of the Wyoming Air National Guard prior to appointment.
  • Open to current active-duty Air Force, Air Force Reserves, and other states' Air National Guard members.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance for access to classified information.
  • Must submit vMPF Rip, DVR, or CDB with resume.
  • May be required to travel via military or commercial air.
  • Work schedule is generally Monday–Friday, 7:00 am – 4:30 pm, though additional hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays may be required.
  • Subject to a two-year trial period and federal background investigation.
  • Relocation expenses are not authorized.

Additional Information

Acceptance of this position results in the termination of military incentives, including the Selected Reserve Incentive Program (SRIP) and TRICARE Reserve Select (TRS). Recruitment or relocation incentives may be authorized based on funding and approval. Federal employment suitability is determined via background investigation. Applicants must be registered with the Selective Service if applicable.
