Job Title: Airplane Pilot (National Guard Title 32 Excepted Service)

Position Summary:
This is a National Guard Title 32 excepted service, non-bargaining unit position. The incumbent serves as an Airplane Pilot for advanced, single or multi-engine military aircraft, including high-performance fighter jets. The pilot conducts tactical and non-tactical missions using precision instrument flight techniques and maintains operational readiness in accordance with military and FAA standards.
Key Duties and Responsibilities

Operate high-performance military aircraft in all weather conditions, adhering strictly to flight manuals and safety parameters.

Execute comprehensive flight planning, including weather analysis, route mapping, fuel requirements, and pre-flight inspections.

Coordinate mission requirements with ground units and controlling agencies.

Complete post-flight requirements, including log entries, flight reports, and coordination with maintenance personnel.

Serve as the Supervisor of Flying (SOF), acting as the Air Commander’s representative to ensure safe and efficient mission execution.

Perform administrative and program support rotations in areas including Training and Scheduling, Operational Planning, Safety, and Inspector General duties.
Qualifications

Military Grade:
Must be O4/Maj - O5/Lt Col.

Education:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university (transcripts required).

Training:
Graduation from USAF or USN Undergraduate Flying Training (UFT).

Certification:
Must possess Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) certifications or aviation certifications from an accredited military aviation school (documentation required).

Experience:

Must possess a competent understanding of basic aviation principles and concepts.

At least two years of specialized experience in civilian or military aviation programs (active duty, reserve, or National Guard).

Documented experience in piloting and instructing pilot skills for specific main-frame military aircraft.

Current Status:
Must be AFSC qualified in 11M3C or able to qualify within six months of hire.
Conditions of Employment

National Guard membership is mandatory; must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the MTNG.

Must maintain medical standards equivalent to USAF military pilots.

Must be able to obtain and maintain a required security clearance.

Must be willing to wear the military uniform.

Mandatory participation in direct deposit.

Requires registration with the Selective Service for males born after December 31, 1959.

Subject to federal employment suitability background investigations and potential probationary periods.

Must be available to work non-standard hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, and perform travel as required.
