Airplane Pilot (C-130) – Wyoming Air National Guard

The Wyoming Air National Guard is seeking a qualified Airplane Pilot for a Title 32 Dual Status Technician position within the 153d Operations Support Squadron. This role involves piloting the C-130 aircraft and performing essential administrative functions to support the Air Operations program.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Operate advanced multi-engine military aircraft on tactical and non-tactical missions, utilizing precision instrument flight techniques.
  • Conduct comprehensive flight planning, including weather analysis, route determination, fuel requirements, and pre-flight inspections.
  • Ensure all passengers and crew receive thorough safety and emergency procedure briefings.
  • Maintain the highest standards of safety by adhering to flight manuals, coordinating with ground control, and executing corrective emergency actions.
  • Manage post-flight documentation, including log maintenance, flight reporting, and coordination with maintenance personnel.
  • Serve as the Air Commander’s representative when acting as Supervisor of Flying (SOF), ensuring efficient mission accomplishment.

Requirements and Qualifications

Mandatory Professional Qualifications

  • Must have graduated from USAF or USN Undergraduate Flying Training (UFT).
  • Must possess AFSC 11M, C-130 Mobility Pilot rating.
  • Must maintain the same medical standards as required for USAF military pilots.
  • Must hold an undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Must possess valid Federal Aviation Administration or accredited military aviation certifications.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.

Specialized Experience (GS-13)

Applicants must demonstrate at least 24 months of experience in civilian or military aviation programs, and at least 24 months of experience piloting or instructing C-130 aircraft. This experience must include:

  • Developing plans, policies, and monitoring operations for unit mobilizations, deployments, and contingency missions.
  • Managing unit flying, explosive, and ground safety programs in compliance with regulatory directives.
  • Executing mission planning, intelligence review, crew briefings, and aircraft equipment assessment.
  • Managing aviation duties within FAA-controlled national airspace, including flight scheduling and emergency action directives.

Eligibility and Conditions of Employment

  • Military Status: This position is open to current active-duty Air Force, Air Force Reserve, and Air National Guard members. Candidates must be willing to join the Wyoming Air National Guard prior to appointment.
  • Military Grade: Limited to O-2/1Lt through O-5/Lt Col. Under-graded or over-graded applicants will not be considered.
  • Security: Position requires the ability to obtain and maintain an appropriate security clearance.
  • Availability: Must be available for work outside of normal duty hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, and must be willing to travel via military or commercial air.
  • Trial Period: May require the successful completion of a two-year trial period.

Administrative Notes

Employment requires a background investigation for federal suitability. Acceptance of this technician position will terminate military incentives, including Selected Reserve Incentive Program (SRIP) and TRICARE Reserve Select (TRS). Recruitment or relocation incentives may be authorized subject to funding and approval. PCS costs are not authorized.
