Position Summary
The Air National Guard is seeking a qualified Airplane Pilot (Accelerated Hire) to operate unit-equipped (UE) aircraft. In addition to primary piloting duties, the incumbent will perform administrative functions in support of the Air Operations program. This is an open-until-filled announcement; applications are reviewed every 30 days.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Pilot unit-equipped aircraft for mission-specific operations.

Perform administrative tasks to support Air Operations.

Execute mission planning, preparation, and analysis of mission tasking, intelligence, and weather data.

Conduct crew briefings and file flight plans.

Perform preflight inspections, equipment assessments, and aircraft loading.

Execute or supervise navigation, in-flight refueling, search and rescue, and reconnaissance operations.

Provide training for crew members on mission-specific tasks.

Advise commanders on operations and develop related plans and policies.

Ensure compliance with flight safety, ground safety, and explosive safety programs as mandated by the Department of Defense and OSHA.
Candidate Qualifications
General Experience:
Applicants must hold a Federal Aviation Administration certification from an accredited civilian program or an aviation certification from an accredited military aviation school, plus one year of on-the-job experience in the grade (or comparable military rank) immediately below the next higher level.
Specialized Experience (GS-13):
Must possess at least 36 months of specialized competencies in operating a specific main-frame military aircraft, mission planning, and mission preparation. Candidates must demonstrate proficiency in flight theory, air navigation, meteorology, flying directives, and mission tactics.

Military Membership:
Membership in the California National Guard is mandatory. Selectees must maintain a compatible military unit, grade, and job assignment.

Uniform and Grooming:
Must wear the required military uniform and adhere to official grooming standards.

Security Clearance:
Must maintain the appropriate level of security clearance.

Financial Requirements:
Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.

Selective Service:
Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must be registered with the Selective Service.
Area of Consideration

Current California National Guard employees (Permanent/Indefinite/Temporary).

Current California National Guard members.

Area III:
Current military members of the Air Force/Army National Guard, Air Force/Army Reserve, or Air Force/Army Active Duty.
Military Grades:
O-1 through O-6.

Recruitment, relocation incentives, and Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs may be authorized based on funding, agency determination, and regulatory provisions.
