Position Overview
This is a National Guard Title 32 excepted service position (D0253P02) within the OK 138th Fighter Wing, Oklahoma Air National Guard. The incumbent serves as an Airplane Pilot within the Air National Guard (ANG) Aviation Wing, Operations Group, primarily responsible for piloting unit-equipped (UE) aircraft while performing administrative tasks to support the Air Operations program.
Key Responsibilities

Pilot advanced, single or multi-engine military aircraft on tactical and non-tactical missions using precision instrument flight techniques.

Execute flight procedures and maneuvers within established parameters in all weather conditions.

Perform comprehensive pre-flight planning, including weather analysis, route mapping, fuel requirements, weight and balance verification, and crew briefings.

Ensure safe aircraft operation, maintain communication with ground units, monitor flight progress, and manage emergency procedures.

Complete post-flight requirements, including flight logs, reports, and maintenance coordination.

Serve as the Air Commander’s representative when performing as Supervisor of Flying (SOF), maintaining authority over mission accomplishment, airspace utilization, and emergency actions.

Support Air Operations program areas including Training and Scheduling, Unit Planning, Safety Programs, and the Inspector General office.
Qualifications and Requirements
Mandatory Qualifications

Must be a member of the National Guard (or eligible for immediate membership/employment in the required military grade).

Military Grades: O-1 through O-4.

Graduation from USAF or USN Undergraduate Flying Training (UFT).

Possession of Federal Aviation Administration pilot certificates or appropriate military certifications and ratings in the relevant aircraft.

Undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university.

Minimum of two years of specialized experience in aviation programs (civilian, active duty, reserve, or National Guard).

Must maintain medical standards required of USAF military pilots.

Must possess a valid state driver’s license and qualify to operate government motor vehicles.

Must be able to obtain and maintain the required security clearance.
Conditions of Employment

Must wear the military uniform.

Must register for Selective Service (males born after 31 December 1959).

Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.

May require travel via military or commercial air.

Availability to work non-standard hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Professional Competencies
Candidates must demonstrate advanced knowledge in flight theory, air navigation, meteorology, and mission tactics. Proficiency is required in the following areas:

Supervision of mission planning, crew briefings, and aircraft inspections.

Operational Risk Management and aviation quality control.

Compliance with Department of the Air Force, National Guard Bureau, and OSHA safety directives.

Training and instruction of other pilots in aircraft operation, combat tactics, and emergency procedures.

Management of wartime and peacetime contingency plans.
