Position Summary

The 153d Operations Support Squadron is seeking a qualified Airplane Pilot to operate C-130 aircraft in tactical and non-tactical missions. This role involves comprehensive flight planning, execution of precision instrument flight techniques, administrative support for Air Operations, and serving as a Supervisor of Flying (SOF) on behalf of the Air Commander. This is a permanent, full-time position requiring a high level of operational safety and regulatory compliance.

Core Duties and Responsibilities

  • Pilot advanced multi-engine military aircraft using precision instrument techniques and navigational aids.
  • Conduct pre-flight planning, including weather analysis, route mapping, fuel calculation, flight plan filing, and aircraft inspection (weight/distribution/serviceability).
  • Brief crew members and passengers on flight procedures and emergency protocols.
  • Maintain operational safety by adhering to flight manuals, coordinating with ground units, and executing corrective actions during emergencies.
  • Perform post-flight administrative tasks, including log updates, flight reports, and coordination with maintenance personnel.
  • Represent the Air Commander as the Supervisor of Flying to ensure mission efficiency and safety.

Mandatory Qualifications

  • Education: Undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Aviation Certification: Must possess Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) certifications or equivalent military aviation certifications.
  • Military Requirements: Must be a member of (or join) the Wyoming Air National Guard and hold a compatible military grade (O-2/1Lt to O-5/Lt Col). Must possess AFSC 11M (C-130 Mobility Pilot) rating.
  • Experience: Minimum of 24 months of aviation experience (civilian or military) and 24 months of experience piloting or instructing in C-130 aircraft, specifically regarding flight planning, unit safety programs, and mission execution.
  • Licensure: Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • UFT Completion: Must have graduated from USAF or USN Undergraduate Flying Training (UFT).

Conditions of Employment

  • Must maintain medical standards equivalent to USAF military pilots.
  • Must obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance for access to classified information.
  • Must be willing to work non-standard hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
  • May be required to travel via military or commercial air for official conferences and meetings.
  • Position is subject to a background investigation and a potential two-year trial period.
  • Must be registered with the Selective Service (if applicable).
