Compensation and Incentives

Base salary starting from $82,900 (commensurate with flight and EMS experience)

$60,000 Location Stipend

Job Summary
The Fixed Wing Pilot is responsible for ensuring the aircraft and weather conditions are suitable for transporting medical crews and patients. The pilot ensures full compliance with Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR), the Aeronautical Information Manual (AIM), the General Operations Manual (GOM), and all internal Air Methods policies.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities

Operate Air Methods aircraft in a safe and legal manner.

Conduct comprehensive pre-flight inspections, including walk-arounds and verification of airworthiness via the Daily Flight Log.

Maintain final authority regarding aircraft operations and the safety of all passengers, cargo, and equipment.

Ensure familiarity with all primary and backup aircraft systems, including medical interiors.

Execute detailed flight planning with minimal notice to exacting standards.

Maintain accurate flight documentation and participate in organizational meetings, training, and community outreach.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
-
Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Two to five years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Flight Requirements (IFR Program):
-
2,500 total flight hours (minimum 2,000 hours in category)
-
1,000 hours Pilot-in-Command (PIC) in category
-
500 hours Fixed Wing turbine time
-
500 hours of cross-country flight time
-
100 hours of night flight time
-
100 hours of flight in actual instrument conditions in category
-
Must have flown in category within the previous 24 months.
Certificates and Licenses:
-
Instrument rating (category and class); ATP rating in category meets this requirement.

Fixed wing multiengine rating required for twin-engine aircraft.

Commercial single-engine land required for single-engine aircraft.

Current First or Second Class FAA Medical certificate.
Physical and Operational Requirements:

Maximum weight of 250 lbs.

Age under 70 years.

Regular attendance is an essential function of the 7/7 (12-hour shift) schedule.

Subject to DOT/FAA drug and alcohol testing protocols.
