Job Summary

Air Methods is seeking an experienced Fixed Wing Pilot for our Mercy Air operations. This position is responsible for ensuring the airworthiness of aircraft and monitoring weather conditions to safely transport medical crews and patients. The Pilot maintains compliance with all Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR), Aeronautical Information Manual (AIM), and company policies while operating within an assigned operational area.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range for this position is $91,820 – $102,576 (including 110% ACCRA), with a pay scale based on flight and EMS experience (Step A: $82,900 to Step D: $93,251). Additional financial incentives include:

  • Sign-on Bonus: $15,000
  • Experience Stipend: Up to $12,000
  • Additional Stipend: $30,000

Essential Responsibilities

  • Operate aircraft in a safe and legal manner.
  • Perform pre-flight inspections and daily flight logs to verify airworthiness.
  • Maintain final authority regarding aircraft operation and the safety of passengers, cargo, and equipment.
  • Ensure the medical flight team is familiar with aircraft and medical systems.
  • Complete all required documentation and detailed flight planning.
  • Participate in meetings, projects, committees, and community outreach.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Two to five years of related experience and/or training.

Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations:

  • Instrument rating for category and class of aircraft (ATP rating in category satisfies this requirement).
  • Fixed-wing multiengine rating (for twin-engine aircraft) or Commercial single-engine land rating (for single-engine aircraft).
  • First or Second Class FAA Medical Certificate.

IFR Program Flight Requirements:

  • 2,500 total flight hours with at least 2,000 hours in category.
  • 1,000 hours Pilot-in-Command (PIC) in category.
  • 500 hours of cross-country flight time (minimum 50 hours at night).
  • 500 hours of turbine time.
  • 100 hours of night flight time.
  • 100 hours of actual instrument conditions in category.
  • Must have flown in category within the previous 24 months.

Physical and Operational Requirements:

  • Must maintain a body weight not to exceed 250 pounds.
  • Must be under the age of 70.
  • Schedule: 7/7 rotation, 12-hour shifts.
