Flight Officer

The Flight Officer monitors the progress of assigned flights, adhering to the Air Arabia Operational Manual and GCAA/CAA regulations. This individual assists the Captain in ensuring the utmost safety, security, and efficiency throughout each flight. The Flight Officer meticulously records and documents all necessary data, provides support to the flight and cabin crew, and effectively implements emergency procedures when directed. When instructed or required by established procedures, they may assume control of the flight from the Captain.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serves as Second Officer, assisting the Captain in monitoring flight progress, the efficacy of operating systems, and the performance of cabin crew. Demonstrates exemplary cooperation and a systematic approach to information exchange while adhering to task distribution.
  • Operates flights in strict accordance with the Air Arabia Operations Manual and CAA regulations, consistently applying and monitoring procedures to guarantee the safe and seamless operation of the aircraft.
  • Pilots Air Arabia aircraft as instructed by the Captain, prioritizing safety, efficiency, and passenger comfort.
  • Coordinates with the First Officer and Dispatch Team before each flight to ensure cabin crew members are well-prepared and informed, including aircraft technical status, route preferences, weather, fuel calculations, weight, passenger numbers, and role assignments.
  • Conducts assigned checks inside and outside the cockpit, confirms taxiing and take-off with the Captain, and manages input of necessary data and documentation, such as take-off data, fuel requirements, and ATS flight plans. The Flight Officer also briefs the First Officer and Captain regularly.
  • Utilizes established systems and forms to record data, including logbooks, CFP, and security search records. They also verify calculated data with the First Officer and Captain.
  • At stations lacking qualified personnel, the Flight Officer verifies fuel type and supervises aircraft fueling, ensuring proper fuel distribution.
  • Alerts the Captain to any irregularities or adverse conditions that may affect safety, implements actions as instructed by the Captain, and supports the crew on safety or security matters.
  • Ensures that flight crew members have the current Air Arabia Operations Manual. Where compliance isn't immediately attainable, assists the First Officer/Captain in securing the aircraft until return to home base.
  • Undertakes additional ground-based tasks, such as Safety or Security Officer, as directed by the Head of Flight Operations, following the provisions of the Air Arabia Operations Manual.
  • Maintains current knowledge of legal requirements from regulatory bodies, including Civil Aviation, GCAA/CAA, Airbus, and other relevant organizations. Attends recurrent and competency-based trainings.
  • Assists the Captain in completing necessary records and reports such as journey logs, aircraft flight logs, and safety reports. Deposits flight envelopes in secure locations after each flight as instructed by the First Officer.

Qualifications:

  • Possession of an appropriate license (MPL, CPL) with a frozen ATPL is mandatory.
  • Successful completion of the technical/psychometric assessment for First Officer as per Air Arabia/GCAA/CAA standards is required.
  • Must pass the Aviation Class One Medical for First Officers according to GCAA regulations.
  • Training in safety and emergency response is essential; formal qualification is advantageous.
  • Basic airport and security procedures and regulations training is an advantage.
  • Proficiency in using aircraft systems and Microsoft Office, along with internet and web search capabilities, is necessary.
  • Demonstrated ability in written and verbal communication, including technical report writing and presentations, is required.
  • Proficiency in English is essential; knowledge of Arabic and French languages is beneficial.

Work Experience:

  • Demonstrated industry knowledge of aircraft systems and operating procedures.
  • Ability to handle delegated security or safety-related roles, as required by Air Arabia and GCAA/CAA regulations.
  • Proficiency in applying policies, procedures, and manuals according to approved standards and regulations.
  • Proven team player, able to perform under pressure and with changing schedules.
  • Comprehensive understanding of QA/Safety/Security/Audit procedures and practices related to flight operations.
  • Composed, self-confident, and focused, with the ability to handle emergencies and threats effectively.
  • Proven skills in identifying irregularities and recommending appropriate solutions.
  • Cost-oriented, with effective problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • High accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to use technical expertise and interpersonal skills to support company objectives.
