A320/A321 Check Airman & Instructor Pilot (TRE/TRI)
A premier airline is seeking highly qualified and experienced Check Airmen (TRE) and Instructor Pilots (TRI) to join its flight operations training team. This critical role involves delivering world-class flight crew training and checking services, ensuring the highest standards of safety and regulatory compliance.
The Role: Job Purpose
The incumbent is responsible for providing comprehensive training and checking services for flight crew, strictly adhering to company documentation (DMM OM-D) and General Authority of Civil Aviation Regulations (GACARs). Key deliverables include conducting ground instruction, sophisticated simulator training, aircraft line checks, operating experience supervision, and specialized operational training. A primary function is ensuring that all training activities, checking procedures, and associated records consistently meet GACA acceptance criteria and rigorous company standards.
Key Result Responsibilities
The Check Airman/Instructor Pilot performs a broad range of training and assessment activities, including but not limited to:
- Executing authorized ground training, flight training, Flight Simulator Training Device (FSTD) sessions, proficiency checks, recurrent training, line checks, landing recency, Requalification, Line-Oriented Flight Training (LOFT), and Special Purpose Operational Training (SPOT).
- Conducting FSTD type rating training and corresponding ground school instruction in full alignment with established company procedures and requirements.
- Supervising operating experience and conducting assigned line checks to maintain operational standards.
- Conducting Instructor and Examiner simulator training programs as required.
- Participating actively in standardization workshops and examiner/instructor meetings mandated by the company or the Civil Aviation Authority (GACA).
- Meticulously completing and submitting detailed, accurate reports and comprehensive assessments of pilots under instruction via the electronic reporting system.
- Securing all training and checking records and submitting required check reports to GACA promptly.
- Maintaining current and valid Check Pilot/Instructor Pilot certifications and qualifications.
- Conducting mandatory recency training in accordance with the approved company syllabus.
- Conducting Initial, Transition, Upgrade, and various Ground courses.
- Recommending appropriate additional or remedial training for trainee pilots whose progress does not meet expected performance standards.
- Offering insightful recommendations to Training Management aimed at improving the efficiency, safety, quality of instruction, and standardization of procedures and teaching methodologies.
- Providing support for course development projects and fulfilling other ad-hoc tasks as required by the department.
Candidate Profile: Essential Qualifications
Prospective candidates must possess the following academic credentials, certifications, and language proficiency:
- Valid Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) License.
- Essential corresponding aircraft type rating certificates for Airbus A320 and A321 series aircraft.
- Valid Check Pilot Certificate and/or Instructor Pilot certification (TRE/TRI).
- Current Class 1 Medical Certificate.
- English Language Proficiency (ELP) Level 5 or higher.
- Expert-level knowledge of complex Aircraft systems.
- Proficiency in written and verbal communication, technical report writing, and professional presentations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Internet, and web search functionalities.
Desirable Attributes:
- Training certificates such as “Train the Trainer,” “NLP,” or “Instructive Training” are highly advantageous.
- Formal Crew Resource Management (CRM) Training is beneficial for this role.
- Proficiency in the Arabic Language is an advantage.
Required Work Experience
Candidates must demonstrate a solid background in commercial aviation operations and instruction:
- A minimum of five (5) years of experience working as a pilot for a commercial airline. Experience within a low-cost carrier environment is highly desirable.
- Must have successfully completed a minimum of two (2) years serving as a Check Pilot or Instructor Pilot for an airline, specifically delivering training on the Airbus family aircraft.
- Familiarity with Civil Aviation Authorities and regulatory bodies, preferably the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA).
- Proficiency in regulations governing Flight Operations, pilot licensing, GACA standards, and IOSA requirements.
- Demonstrated capability in monitoring performance against regulatory standards, operational manuals, and procedures.
- Possesses effective problem-solving, decision-making, and persuasive communication skills.
Desirable Experience:
- Experience in designing and tailoring training courses to meet stringent standards and specific business needs is an advantage.
