Job Summary and Purpose
The Check Pilot/Instructor Pilot is crucial for maintaining the highest standards of flight crew proficiency. This professional is responsible for delivering comprehensive training and checking activities, strictly adhering to the company’s documented manuals (DMM OM-D) and the requirements set forth by the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA). Responsibilities encompass delivery of specialized training across various platforms, including ground school, Flight Simulator Training Devices (FSTD), and in-aircraft line operations.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
This role requires expertise in executing a broad range of training and checking functions, including:
- Conducting essential flight, simulator, and ground training activities, including Proficiency Checks, Recurrent Checks, Line Checks, Line-Oriented Flight Training (LOFT), and Special Purpose Operational Training (SPOT).
- Executing assigned Line Checks and supervising Operating Experience (OE) to ensure procedural adherence and performance competence.
- Maintaining current and valid authorization as a Check Pilot / Instructor Pilot in accordance with regulatory mandates.
- Delivering Flight Simulator Training Device (FSTD) Type Rating training and ground school instruction, aligning with established company procedures and operational requirements.
- Conducting mandatory recency training as required by the company's approved syllabus.
- Performing specialized instructor and examiner simulator training and standardization workshops as mandated by GACA or internal company policies.
- Completing and submitting accurate, detailed reports and assessments for all pilots undergoing instruction via the existing electronic reporting system.
- Securing all training and checking records and submitting required check reports to GACA promptly.
- Providing informed recommendations to training management regarding procedural modifications that enhance operational safety, training quality, efficiency, and standardization of teaching techniques.
- Recommending additional or remedial training for trainee pilots whose performance progression does not meet expected standards.
- Supporting departmental projects, course development initiatives, and other assigned tasks.
- Conducting various course phases, including Initial, Transition, Upgrade, and comprehensive Ground Courses.
Required Qualifications and Certification
Academic, Training, and Languages
- Must possess a valid Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) License.
- Appropriate and current aircraft type rating certificates are mandatory, specifically for the Airbus A320 and A321 aircraft.
- Holds a valid Check Pilot Certificate and/or Instructor Pilot Certificate.
- Possession of a current Class 1 Medical Certificate.
- English Language Proficiency (ELP) level 5 or above is required.
- Expert knowledge of complex Aircraft Systems is essential.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Internet navigation, and technical report writing.
- Highly Desirable: Training certificates such as “Train the Trainer,” “Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP),” or “Instructive Training” certifications.
- Highly Desirable: Current certification in Crew Resources Management (CRM) Training.
- Desirable: Proficiency in the Arabic Language is considered an advantage.
Mandatory Work Experience and Expertise
- A minimum of five (5) years of working experience as a pilot within a commercial airline setting.
- Must have completed a minimum of two (2) years successfully serving as a Check Pilot / Instructor Pilot with an airline, delivering training specifically on Airbus aircraft.
- Demonstrated familiarity with Civil Aviation Authorities and regulatory bodies, with prior exposure to the regulations of the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) highly preferred.
- In-depth understanding of GACA regulations, IOSA standards for Flight Operations, and pilot licensing requirements.
- Proven capability to effectively monitor operational performance against established procedures, manuals, and regulatory standards.
- The successful candidate must possess effective persuasive, problem-solving, and decisive decision-making skills.
- Highly Desirable: Experience working within a low-cost airline operational model.
- Desirable: Experience in designing and tailoring aviation training courses to meet regulatory standards and specific business needs.
