Job Purpose
The Aviation Theoretical Knowledge Instructor is responsible for delivering comprehensive and clear instructions across a diverse range of aviation subjects. This pivotal role ensures that all students acquire the essential knowledge required for success in their licensing examinations and for conducting safe flight operations. The Instructor is dedicated to equipping aspiring aviation professionals with a robust theoretical understanding of aviation principles and practices.
Key Responsibilities
Instruction and Curriculum Management
- Delivers engaging and informative lectures on theoretical knowledge subjects as allocated, maintaining the highest professional standards at all times.
- Ensures that all training programs are meticulously delivered in full compliance with approved curricula and the organization's training and operations manuals.
- Maintains and proactively updates training materials, lesson plans, and syllabi as required to ensure relevance and accuracy.
- Stays fully updated on the latest aviation regulations and industry developments, adapting teaching methods and materials accordingly.
- Collaborates with the line manager on the development of new and existing training programs and contributes to curriculum enhancement.
Student Mentorship and Performance Oversight
- Mentors and supports students throughout their training journey, ensuring they achieve a clear and thorough understanding of all delivered courses.
- Monitors and meticulously maintains student progress test records for allocated subjects within the Ground School, identifying areas for improvement and providing constructive feedback to foster student success.
- Maintains accurate and updated records of student attendance for all classes, ensuring full accountability for each student.
- Coordinates with the line manager to recommend and implement necessary corrective training interventions for students.
Compliance, Safety, and Professional Conduct
- Ensures the strict confidentiality and security of all GCAA (General Civil Aviation Authority) and Academy examination papers.
- Acts as a exemplary role model for students, upholding and enforcing the highest standards of professionalism, discipline, deportment, and appearance.
- Ensures all personal approvals and required documentation for the position are kept current and valid.
- Maintains the Theoretical Knowledge Instructor's office and classrooms as a clean, tidy, and safe working environment, promptly reporting any maintenance requirements.
- Identifies and reports any safety-related incident, regardless of severity, to the appropriate manager.
- Actively promotes the safety policy to all staff and continuously demonstrates a strong commitment to it.
- Maintains a positive and professional learning environment within the classroom.
- Performs any additional duties as directed by the line manager.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s degree in Aviation, Education, or a related field is preferred; a High School diploma or equivalent is required.
- Successful completion of a course of training in instructional techniques or a "Train the Trainer" certificate.
- Previous experience in delivering theoretical knowledge instruction with an appropriate theoretical background in the specified subjects.
- Previous experience instructing ATPL (Airline Transport Pilot License) theory at a GCAA approved pilot training organization is highly preferred.
Required Skills and Experience
- Minimum of three (3) years of proven experience as an instructor, handling similar tasks within an aviation context.
- Demonstrated practical background in aviation in areas relevant to the training provided.
- In-depth knowledge of the aviation industry and its operational standards.
- Strong understanding of GCAA safety policies and regulations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
