Flight Operations Manager
This role is pivotal in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the Air Arabia Maroc fleet. The Flight Operations Manager is responsible for implementing and maintaining operating procedures and manuals, monitoring flight performance, and ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations. They lead and guide a team of pilots to achieve optimal performance while maintaining professionalism and cost-efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide ongoing support, coaching, and guidance to the Flight Operations team, fostering individual and team growth.
- Manage manpower planning and utilization to meet operational needs, adhering to all regulatory requirements.
- Optimize manpower allocation to achieve cost reduction goals and ensure efficient assignment of pilots across all hubs.
- Collaborate with stakeholders in Operations and Human Resources to conduct objective performance evaluations of all pilots.
- Utilize performance data and reports to inform promotion, dismissal, training, career development, grievance resolution, and overall team performance.
- Partner with the Cabin Services Manager to develop and implement consistent and compatible policies and standard operating procedures for both Flight and Cabin Crew operations.
- Monitor and promptly review revisions to the Operations Manual Parts A, B, C, and MEL, notifying Flight Crew of any temporary amendments, changes, instructions, or notices related to flight operations and safety-critical operational information.
- Collaborate with Safety, Security, and Quality Assurance teams to review, update, and monitor the implementation of manuals related to Flight Crew safety and security procedures.
- Monitor safety trends to identify and address potential issues.
- Analyze and evaluate reports from various sources, such as discretion reports, occurrence reports, voyage reports, and Flight Crew reports, recommending appropriate actions and solutions and communicating necessary information.
- Ensure timely collection and submission of Captain Discretion Reports.
- Liaise with external parties, including the DGAC/CAA, regulatory bodies, aircraft manufacturers, and OEMs to ensure the AFM (Aircraft Fleet Management) system is up-to-date and provides accurate data for fleet standardization and safety.
- Provide recommendations for system improvements as needed.
- Support the Head of Flight Operations in planning routes, schedules, and new destinations.
- Establish operational requirements for all aerodromes and routes served, highlighting any limitations to aircraft performance.
- Analyze and evaluate current practices to identify cost reduction opportunities, particularly in fuel consumption and manpower utilization.
- Ensure Quality Assurance and internal/external audit requirements are effectively managed, representing Flight Operations during statutory audits (CAA, IOSA, etc.).
- Conduct field trip visits to evaluate performance at destinations and support hubs.
- Operate a number of flights to achieve a yearly average of 40 block hours per month.
Qualifications:
- A valid ATPL License is required.
- A Bachelor's degree in Aeronautics, Aviation, Management, or a related field is an advantage.
- Training in safety and emergency response is essential, with a formal qualification being preferred.
- Basic Airport, security procedures, and regulations related training is mandatory.
- Training in IATA principles and standards related to security is highly desirable.
- Cost Control, Compliance, Budgeting, and Quality Assurance certificates and trainings are an added value, and some may be treated as conditional for this role.
- Proficient in using aircraft systems, Microsoft Office, the Internet, and web search.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to produce technical reports and presentations.
- Fluency in English, Arabic, and French is advantageous.
Experience:
- 10+ years of extensive experience in Airlines Operations, with a minimum of 5 years in a supervisory or managerial level, handling operational control over international commercial operations with similar aircraft.
- Alternatively, a minimum of 3 years within the last 6 years as a Pilot in Command of Airbus 320 or Airbus 321. Experience with low-cost airlines is considered an advantage.
- Possesses a strong understanding of aircraft systems and operating procedures.
- Familiar with rules and regulations of Civil Aviation Authorities and regulatory bodies, preferably DGAC and IOSA, pertaining to Flight Operations manuals and working procedures, as well as Pilot licensing.
- Experience with Quality Assurance/Safety/Security/Audit procedures and practices affecting Flight Operations.
- Experience in implementing, monitoring, and managing policies, procedures, and manuals according to business requirements, approved quality standards, and in line with applicable regulations.
- Experience working in high-pressure environments with frequently changing conditions, heavy workloads, and ad-hoc scenarios.
- Demonstrated high accuracy and attention to both results and details.
- Developed skills in cost-estimation analysis and budget management.
- Experience in measuring team performance against regulations, manuals, and established standards.
