First Officer / Second Officer (Co-Pilot)
Job Purpose
The First Officer/Second Officer is responsible for monitoring flight progress in accordance with the Airline’s Operations Manual and civil aviation authority regulations. The role assists the Captain in ensuring the safety, security, and efficiency of each flight, maintaining precise documentation, supporting cabin crew, and executing emergency procedures as required. The candidate must be prepared to assume control of the aircraft when instructed or necessary per established protocols.
Key Responsibilities

Act as 'Pilot Flying' or 'Pilot Monitoring,' managing flight deck tasks, monitoring aircraft systems, and collaborating effectively with cockpit crew.

Operate the aircraft with a priority focus on safety, efficiency, and passenger comfort.

Execute all flight operations in strict compliance with the Airline’s Operations Manual and regulatory standards.

Collaborate with the Captain and Dispatch Team pre-flight to verify technical status, weather, fuel, weight, and crew responsibilities.

Perform all necessary pre-flight documentation, including ATS flight plans, take-off data, and fuel calculations.

Maintain accurate flight records, including logbooks and Computerized Flight Plans (CFP), ensuring all data is verified and signed by the Captain.

Supervise aircraft refueling at stations lacking qualified ground personnel.

Monitor for irregularities and assist the Captain in responding to safety or security threats.

Undertake ground-based assignments, such as Safety or Security Officer duties, as directed.

Maintain current knowledge of regulatory requirements (e.g., civil aviation authority, Airbus standards) and participate in mandatory competency-based training.

Ensure all flight documentation, charts, and manuals are updated, distributed, and compliant.

Assist in the completion of post-flight reporting, including voyage reports and aircraft logs, ensuring secure delivery of flight envelopes.
Qualifications

Valid ATPL License or CPL License with Frozen ATPL.

Must successfully pass technical, psychometric, and medical fitness assessments per Airline and civil aviation authority standards.

Essential training: Safety and emergency response (formal qualification is an advantage).

Desirable qualifications: Airport security procedures, Crew Resource Management (CRM), and IATA security principles.

Proficiency in aircraft systems, Microsoft Office, and web-based research tools.

Strong written and verbal communication skills, including technical report writing.

Fluent in English; proficiency in Arabic or French is an advantage.
Work Experience

Minimum of 800 flying hours on Airbus A320.

Experience with a low-cost carrier is highly desirable.

Strong knowledge of aircraft systems, operating procedures, and industry standards.

Exposure to QA, safety, security, and audit procedures within flight operations.

Proven capability to work in a high-pressure environment with changing schedules.

Demonstrated analytical skills with an emphasis on data-driven problem-solving and decision-making.

High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and a cost-oriented mindset.

Ability to contribute effectively to business objectives and KPIs.
