Role Overview and Job Purpose
This senior leadership position seeks an accomplished aviation professional to serve as the Chief Pilot. The incumbent is entrusted with maintaining the highest standards of safety, regulatory compliance, and efficiency across the airline's flight operations. The Chief Pilot ensures that all flights are conducted strictly in accordance with the provisions of the Operations Manuals, Company policies, and General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) Regulations.
The role is pivotal in implementing and rigorously maintaining all necessary policies, rules, and operational procedures that guarantee the safe, compliant, and smooth operation of the fleet.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
The Chief Pilot is expected to deliver exceptional results across the following critical areas:
- Serves as the primary point of contact and essential liaison between senior management and flight crews, ensuring effective bidirectional communication regarding operational concerns, critical safety issues, and crew requirements.
- Provides strong leadership, supervision, and professional management to all flight crew members, ensuring rigorous adherence to established company procedures and industry operational standards.
- Oversees the comprehensive monitoring and timely revision of Operations Manuals (Parts A, B, and C), including the necessary issuance of temporary amendments, instructions, and notices to Flight Crew.
- Conducts regular and systematic evaluations of pilot performance, providing constructive feedback and implementing strategies to facilitate continuous professional improvement across the fleet.
- Fosters seamless collaboration with inter-departmental units—including Maintenance, Operations Control, and Human Resources—to ensure fully integrated and seamless flight operations, training, and crew management workflows.
- Acts as the company representative when liaising with the GACA and other national or international regulatory authorities regarding Flight Operation subject matters and compliance requirements.
- Manages quality assurance requirements pertinent to the flight operations area of control, ensuring effective implementation and oversight.
- Efficiently monitors and manages the company’s fuel conservation plan, driving efficiency without compromising safety.
- Ensures that all corrective and preventive actions arising from mandatory quality and safety audits are accomplished effectively and within specified timelines.
- Upholds all designated Safety responsibilities as defined within the company’s Safety Management System (SMS) Manual, contributing actively to a robust safety culture.
- Carries out additional duties as may be assigned by the Head of Flight Operations.
Candidate Profile: Qualifications and Experience
Professional Experience and Expertise
- The candidate must possess a minimum of three (3) years of proven experience in flight operations within an airline, holding a senior managerial position such as Chief Pilot or an equivalent executive role.
- Demonstrates extensive, current knowledge of GACA regulations and flight operation requirements.
- Instructional experience within an aviation context is considered a significant advantage.
Academic and Certifications
- A GACA License is strongly preferred, coupled with current Captain status and type rating on the Airbus A320 aircraft.
- A Bachelor’s degree in Aeronautics, Aviation Management, or an equivalent discipline is advantageous.
- Training in safety and emergency response procedures is essential; a formal qualification in this area is beneficial.
- Mandatory training in basic Airport, security procedures, and related regulatory compliance is required.
- Training or certification relating to IATA security principles and standards is highly desirable.
- Certificates and training in specialized areas such as Cost Control, Regulatory Compliance, Budgeting, and Quality Assurance are valuable assets, and certain credentials may be conditional for this leadership role.
Skills and Attributes
- Must be highly proficient in utilizing complex aircraft systems.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Internet, and Web Search functionality is required.
- Exhibits excellent inter-communicational skills and superior written and verbal communication abilities necessary for technical reporting, presentation, and crew coordination.
- Fluency in both English and Arabic is considered a distinct advantage.
