Job Overview and Purpose
The A320 Captain (Pilot in Command) assumes a senior leadership role responsible for the safe, secure, and highly efficient conduct of all assigned flight operations. The Captain must strictly adhere to the detailed provisions outlined in the Company Operational Manual and comply fully with all relevant General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) regulations.
This pivotal role involves leading the flight and cabin crew, effectively managing Crew Resource Management (CRM), decisively handling emergencies, and exercising ultimate command over the aircraft to ensure successful performance and uphold the corporate image. The Captain is responsible for operating the aircraft between destinations in accordance with approved flight schedules and flight plans. Operational decision-making must prioritize Safety, followed by Efficiency, and ultimately, Passenger Comfort.
Essential Experience, Qualifications, and Requirements
Candidates seeking the position of A320 Captain must fulfill the following mandatory criteria:
- A minimum of 5,000 hours of total flying experience.
- A minimum of 2,000 hours as Pilot in Command (PIC) in a commercial jet aircraft.
- A minimum of 800 hours as Pilot in Command (PIC) on the Airbus A320 family, with current type rating.
- Must possess a current and valid GACA or International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Airline Transport Pilot License (ATPL).
- Possession of valid licenses, a valid Class 1 medical certificate, and a valid Instrument Rating (IR).
- A Valid English Language Proficiency (ELP) certification, with a minimum required score of Level 4.
- The successful candidate must pass rigorous technical assessments, psychometric evaluations, and a comprehensive Medical Fitness Check for Pilots, aligning with Company and GACA standards.
- Required training in safety protocols and emergency response procedures is essential for this role.
- Maximum age of 59 years at the time of application submission.
Highly Desirable Qualifications and Competencies
- Preference will be afforded to training specialists, including Trainers with Type Rating Examiner (TRE), Type Rating Instructor (TRI), or Line Training Captain (LTC) experience.
- Formal qualification in safety and emergency response is considered a strong advantage.
- Prior experience operating within a low-cost airline environment is highly desirable, though not mandatory.
- Training in basic airport procedures, security protocols, and related regulations is an advantage.
- Completion of dedicated Crew Resources Management (CRM) Training is beneficial.
- Familiarity with IATA principles and standards relating to aviation security is an advantage.
- The Captain must be proficient in aircraft systems, Microsoft Office applications, internet research, technical report writing, and presentation delivery.
Special Consideration for Applicants
Preference will be extended to Saudi Nationals holding a current A320 rating and a valid GACA license. Non-Saudi Nationals who fully meet the stipulated requirements and are currently based within Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries will also be considered for this Captain position.
