Flight Instructor

ATP, the nation's largest flight school, seeks a qualified Flight Instructor to join its team at the SUS Airport in St. Louis, MO. This full-time position within the Flight Standards department offers an opportunity to contribute to the training of aspiring professional pilots. ATP has been the leader in professional flight training for over 35 years, providing students with the most efficient path to airline careers.

The Flight Instructor will play a crucial role in ATP's CFI Academy, preparing candidates for their flight instructor certificates. This includes delivering comprehensive ground and flight training, encompassing one spin training flight, and providing endorsements for practical tests. The instructor will follow an approved training curriculum, ensuring students meet the highest standards, and maintain accurate student records while communicating progress to Training Support. This position requires some weekend availability.

Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to the established training curriculum, maintaining high training standards.
  • Maintain meticulous student records and report progress to Training Support.
  • Conduct airplane spin training.
  • Execute airplane flight maneuver training and provide endorsements for initial CFI certificates.
  • Be available for some weekend flight duties.

Qualifications:

  • Must hold a valid FAA Certified Flight Instructor certificate compliant with 14 CFR Part 61.195 (h) and meet the 2-Year CFI requirements.
  • Certified Flight Instructor Instrument (CFII) certification is preferred.
  • Multi-Engine Instructor (MEI) certification is preferred.
  • Prior experience in the PA-28-181, CE-172R/S, and PA-44 aircraft is advantageous.
  • Ability to effectively evaluate students on Single-Engine and Instrument rating subjects.
  • Proficiency in conducting spin training in approved aircraft.
  • Demonstrates excellent teaching and communication skills.

Physical Demands:

The role requires the ability to talk, hear, see, stand, walk, use hands, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, and occasionally up to 25 pounds.
