Worldwide Aviation Support Services (WASS)
AAR's WASS program, headquartered in Rockledge, FL, provides exceptional aviation solutions to the US Department of State Air Wing, encompassing both expeditionary and conventional operations worldwide.
Role Description
This position offers rotary wing operational support for the Department of State INL/A program, assisting the US Embassy in Iraq. The role is based in Iraq with an 80/40 rotation schedule.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute both single and multi-ship missions during day, night, and Night Vision Goggle (NVG) operations, primarily under Visual Meteorological Conditions.
- Maintain NVG currency and Instrument proficiency.
- Ensure adherence to all INL/A Program Directives (PD), Aircrew Training Manuals (ATM), and ATP requirements.
- Verify the presence of essential flight kit.
- Confirm completion of required airworthiness inspections, addressing all discrepancies or deferring them in accordance with the applicable aircraft's Minimum Equipment List (MEL).
- Oversee or conduct aircraft preflight inspection and preparation.
- Supervise or perform cargo and passenger loading, distribution, and security.
- Ensure carry-on baggage is placed in the cargo area as required.
- Determine aircraft weight and balance within prescribed limits.
- Prepare aircraft flight maintenance log, load manifest, and discrepancy record form, delivering copies to the Site Manager for filing upon the completion of each flight assignment.
- Assume final responsibility for logging aircraft flight time, filing and closing flight plans, and preparing flight and duty time records.
- Supervise the crew on a daily basis.
- Conduct passenger briefings before each take-off or delegate this responsibility, retaining oversight.
- Delegate functions to direct reports while retaining overall responsibility.
- Engage in occasional travel to the contiguous United States (CONUS) as required.
- Perform other aviation duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- FAA Commercial and Instrument Airman Certificate Rotorcraft Helicopter.
- FCC Restricted Radiotelephone Operator Permit.
- Host nation language proficiency as per contract requirements.
- 1,500 total rotary wing flight hours, including 500 hours of turbine engine time.
- Night Vision Goggle (NVG) qualified with 300 hours of NVG experience.
- Current FAA Class II Medical Certificate.
- Strong English speaking and written communication skills.
- Experience operating UH-60 A/L/M, SH-60 Series, MH-60 series, or HH-60 series helicopters.
- Ability to pass physical screening.
- Valid passport with a minimum of 18 months of validity remaining.
