Rotor Wing Instructor Pilot (H-60) – LATAM
AAR, a global leader in aerospace aftermarket solutions, seeks a highly skilled and experienced Rotor Wing Instructor Pilot to join its Worldwide Aviation Support Services (WASS) program, supporting the US Department of State Air Wing. This crucial role offers the opportunity to contribute to a vital international mission while working within a dynamic and collaborative team. The position is based internationally (OCONUS) with a rotational schedule.
Role Summary:
The Rotor Wing Instructor Pilot will assist the Standardization Pilot in administering the organization's Aircrew Training Program (ATP). Responsibilities encompass conducting rotary wing crew member training and evaluations, managing the standardization program (including flight records, Air Wing Information System (AWIS) updates, and publication maintenance), and planning and supervising flight operations. The successful candidate will ensure adherence to rigorous training standards and compliance with all applicable regulations and directives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Standardization Pilot in administering the standardization program, including qualification training, annual proficiency reviews, and flight evaluations.
- Qualify, train, and evaluate rotary wing rated and non-rated crew members in single and multi-ship missions, encompassing day/night NVG operations (primarily under VMC).
- Document crew member performance, and develop individualized flight training plans aligned with organizational mission objectives and ATP requirements.
- Serve as an active member of the INLA Standardization Committee to maintain training standards and compliance.
- Oversee the scheduling and management of crew member training, ensuring safe and effective aviation support for Department of State OCONUS missions.
- Conduct comprehensive academic and flight training/evaluations, guaranteeing crew member proficiency, standardization, and compliance with INLA standards, directives, manuals, and technical orders.
- Monitor crew member proficiency across all mission planning and flight operation phases to ensure adherence to policies and directives.
- Maintain accurate crew member flight records (including AWIS entries) and conduct thorough risk assessments.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of all applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and essential documentation for contract operations.
- Maintain NVG currency and instrument proficiency, fulfilling roles as Pilot, Pilot-in-Command, Instructor Pilot, Air Mission Commander, and/or Flight Lead as required.
- Execute additional aviation duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Current FAA Class II Medical Certificate, or equivalent foreign aviation medical certificate.
- FAA Commercial and Instrument Airman’s Certificate (Rotorcraft), or equivalent foreign aviation license.
- FAA CFI/CFII Certificate, or equivalent foreign aviation license, or documented US military equivalent.
- FCC Restricted Radiotelephone Operator Permit.
- Qualification in UH-60 A/L/M, SH-60 Series, MH-60 series, or HH-60 series.
- 1500 total rotary wing flight hours, including 500 hours of turbine engine time.
- 200 hours turbine instructor pilot or check pilot time.
- Night Vision Goggle (NVG) qualified with 300 hours of NVG experience.
- Ability to obtain and maintain US MRPT clearance.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally (CONUS and OCONUS), potentially to remote or isolated sites.
- Excellent English written and verbal communication skills.
- Spanish language proficiency (Level 2 in both Listening and Reading – L2/R2) per contract requirements for LATAM countries.
Preferred Qualifications:
- FAA ATP Certificate.
- Experience developing and updating rotary wing aviation SOPs, flight manuals, and courseware.
- Combat experience and prior operational exposure in Iraq or Afghanistan.
- Prior experience with M-4, M-9, or Glock-19 firearms.
- Prior US Military IP/SP qualification and/or support on the DoS INLA program.
