Role Overview
This position operates on an 80/40 rotation schedule. The successful candidate will complete comprehensive DHC-8 qualification training before deploying to Amman. The pilot will provide fixed-wing operational support for the Department of State INL/A program in support of the US Embassy.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and oversee the creation of flight plans, considering factors such as altitude, terrain, weather, range, weight, airport facilities, and navigation aids.
- Conduct preflight inspections and prepare the aircraft for operation.
- As a Maintenance Pilot, perform operational checks, routine maintenance, and maintenance test flights to ensure the airworthiness of the fleet.
- Ensure the safe and secure loading, distribution, and handling of cargo and passengers.
- Verify that aircraft weight and balance comply with prescribed limits.
- Maintain ultimate responsibility for logging flight time, filing and closing flight plans, and preparing flight and duty time records.
- Conduct thorough passenger briefings before each takeoff or delegate this responsibility to direct reports, while retaining overall accountability.
- Delegate tasks to other direct reports while maintaining overall responsibility for the successful completion of assigned duties.
- Fulfill the requirements of this OCONUS position, which involves occasional travel to CONUS.
- Possess a valid U.S. Security Clearance.
- Perform other aviation duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent qualification from the host nation.
- FAA Commercial and Instrument Airman's Certificate (Airplane) or equivalent qualification from the host nation.
- FCC Restricted Radiotelephone Operator Permit.
- Current FAA Class II Medical Certificate.
- Successful completion of FAA Type Rating in the selected aircraft type (required before assignment).
- 750 hours of pilot-in-command time.
- 1,500 total fixed wing flight hours, including 500 hours of turbine multi-engine time.
- Minimum 250 hours of multi-engine pilot-in-command time.
- MP applicants require 50 hours of FW maintenance pilot time or prior designation as a military Functional Check Pilot/ Maintenance Test Pilot time.
- Strong English communication skills (written and spoken).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior military pilot experience and/or pilot support experience on the DoS INL/A program.
- Qualification in the applicable aircraft (DHC-8 or equivalent).
- FAA ATP rating – FAA Type rating.
- FAA CFI/CFII/MEI certifications.
OCONUS Requirements:
- Ability to pass physical screening.
- Valid passport with at least 18 months of remaining validity.
- For LATAM positions, Level 2 Spanish proficiency is required.
- Willingness to relocate.
