Flight Crew Lead - Worldwide Aviation Support Services (WASS)

The Worldwide Aviation Support Services (WASS) program, an AAR business headquartered in Rockledge, FL, provides global, world-class expeditionary and conventional aviation solutions to the U.S. Department of State Air Wing.
This role will manage and lead Flight Crews (FW and DHC-8) in support of U.S. Department of State mission requirements. The Flight Crew Lead will assign and oversee missions as directed by the Country Site Operations Manager.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage, supervise, schedule, and direct the training of assigned DHC-8 rated and non-rated crew members to ensure safe and effective aviation support services to the Department of State in OCONUS locations.
- Perform duties as a Pilot, Pilot-in-Command, Air Mission Commander, Flight Lead, or Lead Pilot.
- Lead flights as required.
- Ensure only qualified and current crew members are scheduled for flights.
- Oversee Operational Risk Management Protocols at the Site/Country to ensure they are actively followed and fully considered when determining crew pairings and assignments.
- Guarantee the appropriate preparation of flight plans, considering factors such as altitude, terrain, weather, range, weight, cruise data, airport facilities and navigational aids, threats, and crew experience.
- Perform routine travel inside and outside the CONUS, as needed.
- Delegate functions to other crew members while retaining overall responsibility.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED.
- FAA Commercial and Instrument Airman's Certificate Airplane MEL.
- FCC Restricted Radiotelephone Operator Permit.
- Current FAA Class II Medical certificate.
- Minimum 2 years managing Flight Operations programs.
- Successful completion of FAA Type Rating Course in the selected type required before assignment.
- 1,500 total fixed wing flight hours including 500 hours of turbine engine time and 250 hours pilot in command.
- Unrestricted type rating.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint).
- Strong interpersonal skills. Spanish Level L-2, R-2 required in LATAM Programs.
- Exceptional teaching and mentoring skills.
- Strong organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Former US Military rated pilot with operational leadership experience and/or prior pilot support on the DoS INLA program.
- Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) rating from the FAA.
OCONUS Requirements:
- Ability to pass physical screening.
- Passport with 18 months remaining.
- Level 2 Spanish proficiency required for LATAM positions.
- Willingness to relocate.
