DHC-8 Pilot in Command - Amman, Jordan
AAR, a leading provider of aerospace aftermarket solutions, is seeking a skilled and experienced DHC-8 Pilot in Command to join its Worldwide Aviation Support Services (WASS) program in Amman, Jordan. This role will provide critical aviation support to the U.S. Department of State Air Wing.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as Pilot in Command of DHC-8 aircraft and, when required, act as Second in Command.
- Plan flight assignments, collecting comprehensive information regarding flight purpose, weather conditions, operational procedures, and special instructions.
- Prepare or supervise the preparation of flight plans, considering factors such as altitude, terrain, weather, range, weight, cruise control data, airport facilities, and navigational aids.
- Ensure proper flight kits are onboard.
- Verify the completion of required airworthiness inspections and address any discrepancies in accordance with the applicable Minimum Equipment List (MEL).
- Supervise or conduct the aircraft preflight inspection and preparation.
- Ensure proper loading, distribution, and securement of cargo and baggage, adhering to weight and balance limitations.
- Prepare and maintain essential flight documentation, including the Aircraft Flight Maintenance Log, Load Manifest, and Discrepancy Record forms.
- Ensure the presence of necessary survival equipment and special emergency equipment.
- Maintain responsibility for logging aircraft flight time, filing and closing flight plans, and preparing flight and duty time records.
- Report mechanical irregularities and discrepancies, ensuring proper recording of maintenance performed by maintenance personnel.
- Maintain ramp security while passengers are boarding or disembarking.
- Conduct security assessments before each flight and ensure understanding of Rules of Engagement (ROE).
- Maintain adequate rest and adhere to proper dress standards.
- Delegate functions to other personnel while retaining overall responsibility.
Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED.
- FAA Commercial and Instrument Airman's Certificate (Airplane MEL).
- FCC Restricted Radiotelephone Operator Permit.
- Current FAA Class II Medical certificate.
- Successful completion of FAA Type Rating Course in the selected aircraft type.
- 1500 total fixed-wing flight hours, including 500 hours of turbine engine time and 250 hours of MEL pilot-in-command experience.
- Unrestricted type rating.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior U.S. Military Fixed-Wing Transport pilot qualification and/or support on the DoS INLA program.
- FAA Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) rating.
Additional Requirements (OCONUS):
- Ability to pass physical screening.
- Passport with at least 18 months of validity remaining.
- Level 2 Spanish proficiency for LATAM positions.
- Willingness to relocate.
