Pilot - De Havilland Canada DHC-8 (Dash 8) - Iraq
Overview
AAR is seeking a highly qualified and experienced Pilot to join the Worldwide Aviation Support Services (WASS) program in Iraq. WASS, headquartered in Rockledge, Florida, provides world-class expeditionary and conventional aviation solutions to the US Department of State Air Wing.
Role Description
This is a full-time, salaried position based in Baghdad, Iraq, operating on an 80/40 rotation schedule. The successful candidate will undergo comprehensive fixed-wing aircraft (DHC-8) qualification training before deploying to Iraq. The role involves providing essential fixed-wing operational support for the Department of State INL/A program in support of the US Embassy.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare or supervise the preparation of flight plans, considering factors such as altitude, terrain, weather, range, weight, airport facilities, and navigation aids.
- Supervise or perform aircraft preflight inspections and preparation.
- As a Multi-Pilot (MP) crew member, conduct operational checks, routine maintenance, and maintenance test flights to ensure the airworthiness of the fleet.
- Ensure proper loading, distribution, and security of cargo and passengers.
- Determine that aircraft weight and balance are within prescribed limits.
- Maintain final responsibility for logging aircraft flight time, filing and closing flight plans, and preparing flight and duty time records.
- Conduct passenger briefings prior to each takeoff and assign duties to direct reports while retaining overall responsibility.
- Delegate functions to other direct reports while maintaining oversight and ultimate accountability.
- This is an OCONUS position that requires some travel to CONUS.
- Position requires a US Security Clearance.
- Perform other aviation duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- FAA Commercial and Instrument Airman's Certificate – Airplane Multi-Engine Land/Instrument.
- FCC Restricted Radiotelephone Operator Permit.
- Current FAA Class II Medical Certificate.
- Successful completion of FAA Type Rating in the selected aircraft type required before assignment.
- 1,500 total fixed-wing flight hours, including 500 hours of turbine multi-engine time.
- Minimum 250 hours multi-engine pilot-in-command time.
- MP applicants require 50 hours of FW maintenance pilot time or prior designation as a military Functional Check Pilot/Maintenance Test Pilot.
- Strong English speaking and written communication skills.
- Ability to pass physical screening.
- Passport with 18 months remaining.
Preferred Qualifications
- FAA ATP
- FAA DHC-8 (any series) Type Rating.
- FAA CFI/CFII/MEI.
- Prior military pilot experience and/or pilot support on the DoS INL/A program.
- Currency in the applicable aircraft DHC-8 (any series).
