Cargo Aviation Captain
7 Air, LLC is seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual to join their team as a Cargo Aviation Captain. The Captain assumes command of cargo aircraft, leading flight operations and ensuring the safe and efficient transportation of freight to various destinations. This pivotal role demands a commitment to operational excellence, strict adherence to aviation regulations, and the ability to foster a culture of safety and professionalism within the flight crew. The Cargo Aviation Captain plays a crucial part in upholding the company's standards and ensuring successful mission accomplishment.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Commands cargo aircraft, overseeing all flight operations, including conducting pre-flight inspections to assess airworthiness and readiness.
- Ensures strict compliance with aviation regulations (including 14 CFR Part 121.500), company policies, and standard operating procedures throughout all phases of flight.
- Monitors personal flight, duty, and rest activity to ensure legality and maintains Fit for Duty status via Flight Release.
- Communicates effectively with the Flight Follower, providing updates on whereabouts post-crew-check-in and addressing any irregularities affecting legality or operational flow.
- Stays aware of potential schedule changes and promptly notifies Crew Scheduling as required.
- Coordinates seamlessly with the flight crew, ground staff, and air traffic control to facilitate efficient and safe flight operations.
- Executes takeoff, landing, and in-flight maneuvers with precision and adherence to standard operating procedures.
- Monitors weather conditions, airspace restrictions, and other critical factors affecting flight safety, making informed decisions to ensure the safety of the aircraft and its valuable cargo.
- Communicates effectively with flight crew, authorized personnel, and ground personnel to ensure smooth coordination during all phases of flight.
- Monitors fuel consumption, engine performance, and other critical aircraft systems, taking corrective action as necessary to maintain safe flight operations.
- Provides strong leadership, guidance, and mentorship to co-pilots and other flight crew members, cultivating a positive culture of teamwork, professionalism, and continuous improvement.
- Conducts regular briefings and debriefings with the flight crew to review flight performance, discuss issues, and identify opportunities for enhancement.
- Maintains accurate flight logs, records, and reports in compliance with regulatory requirements and company procedures.
- Actively participates in ongoing training and professional development activities to enhance skills, knowledge, and proficiency in aviation operations.
- Represents the company professionally and courteously in all interactions with clients, regulatory authorities, and external stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- Holds a valid Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) Certificate.
- Possesses a minimum level of flight experience as Pilot-in-Command (PIC) relevant to cargo aviation or similar operations.
- Demonstrates strong leadership skills and the ability to effectively lead and manage flight operations.
- Exhibits excellent decision-making, problem-solving, and situational awareness abilities.
- Must be under 65 years of age.
- Successfully completes 7 Air’s FAA approved initial or recurrent flight and ground training program.
- Completes all training and qualification segments of the approved 7 Air training program.
- Maintains a current FAA Class I Medical Certificate.
- Possesses flexibility to work irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as the nature of cargo operations requires.
- Previous experience in cargo aviation or relevant flight operations is preferred.
